Class 110(3) The driving element of a machine is driven by a number of electric motors each supplied by current from a generator driven by a wind wheel or water turbine, the electrical link being effective only for the desired direction. In Fig. 1, wind wheels 1 drive synchronous generators 2 having exciter machines 3 and feeding asynchronous motors 5. The motors carry pinions 6 engaging a gear wheel 7 on the shaft 8 of a pump 9. In Fig. 2 the water turbines 10 drive D.C. generators 11 feeding D.C. motors 14. The motors drive pinions 15 through free-wheel connections 14, the pinions 15 engaging the driving wheel 16 of a stirring device 17. Asynchronous machines may replace the D.C. machines. |
