A roof bow comprises an outer channelmember 16 to the flanges 26, 29 of which are welded a forward inner channel 28 and a rear channel 27, the adjacent flanges of the channels 27, 28 also being welded together. The channel 28 has turned over upper edges and carries a tacking strip 33 to which the head covering is fixed. Towards the sides of the top the turnedover edges of the channel 28 are continued by the apertured member 52 which retains the quarter pads in position, the head covering being secured by tacks passing through the under lap 43 of the binding 17 and the apertures into the strip 33. The rear channel 27 contains the strip 36 to which is secured the back stay padding and the valance for stiffening the head covering over the rear window.
