A vermin trap of the pivoted flap type comprises a container, a counter-balanced flap pivoted about an axis below the rim of the container and a bait carrier above the flap. The container 3 has its top partially closed by a hinged or removable lid 4 with a downwardlyextending flange 5. The pivoted flap 6, counterbalanced by the weight or spring 7, engages the stop 8. A U-shaped bait carrier 12 with bait hooks 13 is pivotally mounted so that it can be folded flat when not in use and a mirror 9 is provided. The wall 14 is roughened or has fabric secured thereto to enable the vermin to climb it easily. If liquid is used in the container 3 then a further container 15 is provided with perforations 16 and handle 17 to enable the vermin to be extracted without draining the water away.
