PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a can body from being holed or cracked in a water heater having a burner mounting cylinder mounted passing through the can body. SOLUTION: An outer barrel 2 is mounted outside an inner barrel 1 constituting a combustion chamber 3, a hot water storage chamber 4 is formed between the inner barrel 1 and the outer barrel 2, and the water boiling canned body 5 is constituted by the hot water storage chamber 4. The burner mounted cylinder passing through the inner barrel 1 outward to the outer barrel 2 is provided in the can body 5, a burner 7 is installed at the end of the burner mounted cylinder 6, a blowing cylinder 8 is elongated into the burner mounted cylinder 6, and a heat chamber 9 is provided in the blowing cylinder 8 so that flames formed in the heat chamber 9 are blown into the combustion chamber 3. A cylindrical heat shielding member 10 encircling an outer periphery portion of the blowing cylinder 8 is mounted between the burner mounted cylinder 6 and the blowing cylinder 8, and a communication hole 8a is provided in the wall of the blowing cylinder 8. The heat of the blowing cylinder 8 is shielded with the heat shielding member 10, and part of combustion air flowing in the blowing cylinder 8 is carried from the communication hole 8a into a space A between the blowing cylinder 8 and the heat shielding member 10 and air in the space A to be hot with the heat radiation of the blowing cylinder 8 is exhausted to keep the burner mounted cylinder 6 at a low temperature.
