<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lime-based flux for primary refining which contains highly porous lime and also calcium aluminate or calcium ferrite promoting lime-fusion slag-making action and thereby reducing lime consumption and shortening refining time. <P>SOLUTION: Lime stone is crushed to powder having≤1mm size, and in the powdery lime stone, the ready-made material of powdery calcium aluminate or calcium ferrite having the same size, is mixed. This mixture is granulated into almost 5-60mm by adding water and this granular material is burnt at 850-1,050°C with a rotary kiln. The lime is made to porous, and in this porous lime, the calcium aluminate or the calcium ferrite is dispersed. Mixed state in which the calcium aluminate etc. and the lime are close to each other is kept, so that the influence of the calcium aluminate exerts on the lime immediately in a refining furnace. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
