PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of attaching a various and amusing decoration to an input image while maintaining the balance of the entire decoration.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is provided with: an image storage section 4 for storing an input image; a layout area setting section 7 for setting a layout area of the decoration in the input image; an area division section 9 for dividing the set layout area into a plurality of small areas satisfying a prescribed reference; a decoration layout setting section 10 setting the layout of the decoration in the small area; and an image composite section 11 for creating a composite image resulting from composing the decoration with the input image according to the set layout of the decoration.
