PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use this imaging apparatus for imaging by measuring the distance between an imaging apparatus and an object without using a range-finder function of the imaging apparatus in the case of performing the imaging by using the imaging apparatus such as a digital camera. SOLUTION: A pilot signal for range finding is transmitted from a radio communication part 33 of the digital camera 1 to a cellular phone 2. When the pilot signal is received, a radio communication part 27 of the cellular phone 2 transmits a similar pilot signal to the digital camera 1. A range finder 17 of the digital camera 1 calculates the distance between the digital camera 1 and the cellular phone 2 based on the delay time between the received pilot signal and the transmitted pilot signal. An imaging condition setting part 18 sets the imaging conditions based on the calculated distance, an imaging part 11 performs the imaging based on the imaging conditions and acquires image data.
