PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten one cycle operating time by drive motors M1, M2 provided to a driver unit 2 and a clincher unit 3 respectively. SOLUTION: The driver unit 2 for striking a staple and the clincher unit 3 for clinching the foot part of the staple are vertically separated, and are provided with drive motors M1, M2 respectively. Encoders 21, 40 to generate pulse signals P1, P2 by the rotation of each drive shaft are formed on the respective drive shafts 12, 30 to drive the driver unit 2 and the clincher unit 3. The pulse signals P1, P2 are inputted to a control unit 47 to effect counting, allowing the control unit 47 to control the respective drive motors M1, M2 based on the counted value.
