PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin composition of a polyphenylene ether-based resin and/or a polyarylate resin, having high stiffness and low anisotropy, capable of attaining these properties by the small amount of compounding, contributing to weight reduction of products by low specific gravity as a result. SOLUTION: The thermoplastic resin composition comprises (A) 100 pts. wt. at least one kind of thermoplastic resin (component A) selected from polyphenylene ether-based resin and polyarylate resin, (B) 0.1-50 pts. wt. phyllosilicate (component B) having 50-200 mm equivalent/100 g cation exchange volume and (C) 0.5-50 pts. wt. styrene-containing polymer having a functional group composed of carboxy group and/or its derivative.
