PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square root calculation device easy to mount. SOLUTION: This device comprises a binary notation means 22 for converting a prescribed number to a binary notation; a digit number calculation means 23 for calculating the digit number of the prescribed number described in binary notation; a constant acquisition means 26 for acquiring a constant determined according to the combination of binary numbers from the top second bit of the prescribed number described in binary notation to the digit number of a prescribed effective figure and the remainder of the calculated digit number divided by 2, a bit shift quantity calculation means 24 for acquiring a bit shift quantity determined according to the prescribed number described in binary notation, a bit shift execution means 27 for executing the bit shift of the constant by the acquired bit shift quantity; and an output device for outputting the bit-shift executed constant as the square root of the prescribed number.
