An arrangement for measuring the travel of arms of an extensometer, where the arms are coupled to a sample body at a distance to each other. The measurement involves determination of the tilting moment (DELTAMK1, DELTAMK2) applied to a moving part (4) associated with a measurement arm or arms (1). The moment is measured by a moment measurement arrangement (3) that is connected to a data processing unit.
