<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set a proper conversion mode from a plurality of conversion modes regardless of contents of a prepared document, without requiring a high-performance hardware resource. <P>SOLUTION: In this Japanese conversion device 100, a correlation table 51 stores prescribed information about a conversion method or the like by either one of conversion means (a written language conversion means 6 and a spoken language conversion means 7) of the Japanese conversion device 100 correlatively to an address of a registered user. The user inputs the address to an address input part 32. Based on the address, a decision processing part 41 searches the correlation table 51, extracts conversion mode information, and sets the conversion mode to a changeover switch 42.
