<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and environmentally harmonic method of glycosilation, and a solvent and catalyst used for the same. <P>SOLUTION: This method of glycosylation is performed by using an ionic liquid as the solvent and catalyst, e.g. mixing a saccharide donor having phosphite ester group as a leaving group and an alcohol as a saccharide-acceptor with the ionic liquid and performing the reaction while agitating with a stirrer.
