PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the efficient production of a halo-enyne compound useful as a raw material of a conjugated polymer containing triple bond. SOLUTION: A 1,4-dihalo-1,3-diene compound of formula (1) (R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each independently a 1-26C alkyl, a 2-26C alkenyl, a 2-26C alkynyl, a 1-26C alkoxy, phenyl, naphthyl, phenyloxy, naphthyloxy, a 1-20C alkoxycarbonyl, a di(1-20C alkyl)aminocarbonyl, a di(1-20C alkyl)amino, a 1-20C alkylsulfonyl, a substituted silyloxy, OH, carboxy, SiR<SP>a</SP>R<SP>b</SP>R<SP>c</SP>, SnR<SP>a</SP>R<SP>b</SP>R<SP>c</SP>or BR<SP>d</SP>R<SP>e</SP>; and X is Cl, Br or I) is subjected to dehydrohalogenation reaction in the presence of a base to obtain a cis-halo-enyne compound of formula (2) (R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>and X are the same as those defined above).
