PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer which prevents a decrease in ink yield due to the air involved in the absorbing body in a sub-tank when the refilling of the absorbing body in the sub-tank of the printer with ink is repeated and realizes the miniaturization/power saving of the main body of the printer due to the miniaturization/weight reduction of the sub-tank. SOLUTION: The absorbing body in the sub-tank of the ink jet printer is constituted of a hollow pipe-shaped capillary tube bundle having an almost same inner diameter dimension. The capillary tube bundle has openings facing to a joint hole to which ink is supplied and a large number of holes permitting ink to pass are provided to the wall surface of each of capillary tubes. The hole diameter of the holes provided to the wall surfaces of the hollow pipe-shaped capillary tube bundle is made smaller than the inner diameter of each of the capillary tubes.
