PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly strong rachet-type tensioner that is less expensive and is superb also in wear resistance. SOLUTION: A rachet-type tensioner has a ratchet mechanism for energizing a plunger 8 mounted to a housing 7 slidably in a projection direction and for engaging a pallet 17 being provided at the housing to a rack 16 being formed on the side of the plunger to prevent the plunger from returning. In the rachet-type tensioner, the pallet is formed by a sintered alloy whose density is at least 7.2 g/cm<SP>3</SP>. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
