After the positioning of floor tiles is finished the surplus grout smeared across the surface has to be removed. This process is particularly difficult with tiles made of terracotta with a porous, slightly irregular surface. The device (1) can be attached to a stick-shaped handle and has a rectangular foam rubber base (2). The lower surface (3) is provided with parallel rows (11a, 11b, 11c, 11d, 11e) of rounded spikes formed into the material. The spikes (12) of one row (11a, 11b, 11c, 11d, 11e) are alternating with the spikes (12) of the adjacent row (11a, 11b, 11c, 11d, 11e) , facilitating a thorough cleaning.
