PURPOSE: A method for generating different ringing tones by portable device in a wireless facsimile having plural portable devices is provided to generate different ringing tones by portable device while simultaneously calling the plural portable devices, thereby distinguishing each portable device. CONSTITUTION: A portable device controller checks whether a key signal is inputted from a keypad(101). If so, the portable device controller checks whether the inputted key signal is a ring tone setup key(102). If so, the portable device controller displays a menu for setting ring tones(104). The portable device controller checks whether a ring tone selection key signal is inputted from the keypad(105). If so, the portable device controller sets ring tones in accordance with the inputted ring tone selection key(106).
