<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a map suitable for guiding a base by making use of a map provided by a map server. <P>SOLUTION: A base guiding system is constructed by connecting a map system and a base information providing system via a network. The information for displaying the map for guiding the base is stored in the base guiding system in the following forms. As the information for generating a map layer by the map system, the center of the map and a display scale are stored. In a cross hair layer, the position of the base is set in a coordinate system on a display frame VW. The information unique to the base such as a route from the nearest station is stored in a base layer.
