<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fast settlement system using IC cards. <P>SOLUTION: The settlement system receives from an entrance device a random number created by the entrance device when a settlement terminal enters, and sends the random number to an exit device at the time of exiting after encrypting the random number, thus allowing a management device connected to both the entrance device and the exit device to authenticate the IC card by the use of the random number created by the entrance device and the encrypted random number received by the exit device. The random number is encrypted in the IC card after entering and before exiting and the result is stored in a settlement terminal. Information about settlement is sent from the IC card to the settlement terminal before entering and is stored in the settlement terminal. The settlement terminal sends this settlement information to the entrance device at the time of entering. The entrance device sends the settlement information to the management device, which in turn carries out a settlement process using information about settlement if the authentication is successful. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
