PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film fully improved in a gas barrier property in a high-humidity condition and superior in a transparency and in smoothness without giving a troublesome processing. SOLUTION: The gas barrier film is made by applying a coating composition containing a composition containing a swellable synthetic mica type mineral produced by conducting at least one selected from the group consisting of a centrifuging and a decantation and preparing so that a light transmittance satisfies a given range as making the mineral a homogeneous dispersion liquid with its concentration of 0.5 wt.%, and a water soluble polymer, to at least one side of a thermoplastic resin film.
