The invention relates to a method for the production of optically aktive 5- Hydroxy-3-ketoesters of formula (A1) or (A2), or one of the tautomers thereo f, the use thereof in the production of optically active dihydropyrones of formula (B), and the use of the thus produced dihydropyrones of formula (B) as starting compounds for the production of pharmaceutically active compounds, especially tipranavir.
