<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve diagnostic efficiency and diagnostic accuracy by facilitating reading of a cross-sectional image including a detected abnormal shadow candidate thereby reducing a diagnostic time and overlooking of the abnormal shadow candidate when performing diagnosis while displaying the cross-sectional image based on three-dimensional medical image data expressing a subject. <P>SOLUTION: In the image display device, an abnormal shadow candidate detection means 10 detects the abnormal shadow candidate in a plurality of pieces of cross-sectional image data P1 to Pn constituting CT image data P, and a candidate position display means 21 displays information Si, Sj and Sk for specifying the cross-sectional image in which the abnormal shadow candidate is detected, to facilitate extraction and display of the cross-sectional image including the abnormal shadow candidate. It is possible to make control of displaying the cross-sectional image in which the abnormal shadow candidate is detected before the other images and to display the cross-sectional image for a longer period than the other images in stead of the candidate position display means 21.
