<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel-hydrogen secondary battery having excellent charging characteristic in the high-temperature atmosphere and excellent continuous charging characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: This nickel-hydrogen secondary battery is formed by housing a positive electrode containing nickel hydroxide and a negative electrode arranged opposite to the positive electrode through a separator and containing the hydrogen storage alloy and the alkali electrolyte in a container. The positive electrode, furthermore, contains at least one element selected among a group of Y, Yb, Er, Ca, Sr, Ba, Nb, Ti, W, Mo and Ta. Composition of the hydrogen storage alloy is expressed with a general formula: Ln<SB>1-x</SB>Mg<SB>x</SB>(Ni<SB>1-y</SB>T<SB>y</SB>)<SB>z</SB>. In the formula, Ln means at least one element selected among a group of lanthanoide element, Ca, Sr, Sc, Y, Ti, Zr and Hf, and T means at least one element selected among a group of V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, Mn, Fe, Co, Al, Ga, Zn, Sn, In, Cu, Si, P and B. Each of x, y and z is a numerical value regulated by formulas 0<x<1, 0≤y≤0.5, 2.5≤z≤4.5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
