<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method in which an output image of identical quality is obtained even when the image forming process speed is altered by an arrangement simpler than conventional one and a simpler control method. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises an LED writing head unit 33 performing exposure based on inputted image data, an image carrier on which an electrostatic latent image is formed by exposure, and a developing means for visualizing the electrostatic latent image. The visualized image is eventually transferred onto a recording medium and the process speed can be switched among a plurality of different speeds when an image is formed. The image forming apparatus further comprises an LED writing head lighting control section 37 for making constant the time required for exposure based on the one line fraction image data of the LED writing head unit 33, an LED array data transfer control section 38, and an SDRAM controller 39. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
