PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional joint which is set in a segment transverse surface at a location of a tunnel axial end, and excellent because of elimination of back filling in inner surfaces of the segments, the conventional joint suffering from degradation in flexural rigidity and bias in positive/negative flexural rigidity if the segment has a width of 1,500 mm or more. SOLUTION: There is provided a new circumferential joint which is formed in the following manner. The segment 10 has notches formed in a transverse surface 12 at both tunnel axial edges and at intermediate portions of the transverse surface 12, in a manner opening to segment side surfaces and a segment inner surface, respectively. Then half pins 31 each having a half-divided face flush with the transverse surface, and half-pins 41 each having a half-divided face exposed to the inner surface of the segment are embedded in the segment, and the half-pins embedded in the segment are abutted on the half-pins embedded in the other segment to form circular cross-section pins, followed by fitting metallic rings onto the respective pins from the outside.
