PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traverse movement type host capable of accurately detecting a traverse movement position. SOLUTION: This traverse movement type hoist comprising a hoist body having a hoist electric motor for moving up and down a suspended load, a traversing device horizontally traversed while supporting the hoist body, and having a trolley electric motor as a driving source of the traverse movement, a driving wheel driven by the trolley electric motor to be traversed and moved while rolling on a track rail, and supporting the traversing device part, and a driven wheel supporting the traversing device part, and traversed and moved while rolling on the track rail in accompany with the traverse movement of the traversing device part, further comprises a traverse movement detecting means for detecting the traverse movement of the traversing device part by detecting the rotation of the driven wheel.
