摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium in which reproduction characteristics being equal to characteristics when conventional red laser or the like are used are obtained even when light for reproducing of a short wave such as blue laser or the like is used, and a magneto-optical recording and reproducing device using this medium. SOLUTION: This medium is a magneto-optical recording medium in which magnetic layers consisting of at least rare earth metal - transition metal amorphous alloy are laminated on a light transmission substrate 1. the magnetic layer is made in order of a reproduction auxiliary layer 3, a reproduction layer 4, and a recording layer 5 from the substrate side, the recording layer 5 is constituted of materials having high coercive force in room temperature, the reproduction layer 4 is constituted of at least Tb, Nd, Fe, Co and B, or at least Tb, Nd, Fe, Co, and Si. Coercive force in room temperature is assumed as 0≤Hc≤1.03×10<SP>6</SP>[A/m], Curie temperature is assumed as 190≤Tc≤330[°C], as a transition metal dominance film in a temperature region from room temperature to Curie temperature or less, the reproduction auxiliary layer 3 is constituted of materials including at least TbFeCo group amorphous alloy.
