摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nano-structured metal oxide sintered compact which is obtained by sintering a fine powder of a metal oxide in a short period of time at a low temperature by utilizing a pulse energization pressing method and has a preferred orientation, a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the nano-structured metal oxide sintered compact having a preferred orientation is characterized by sintering by a pulse energization pressure sintering method which comprises charging a metal oxide fine powder having an average particle diameter of &le;30 nm into a sintering mold, then pressurizing the sintering mold and the metal oxide fine powder at 5-60 MPa in the sintering mold, at the same time applying a direct pulse current having intensity per the pressure-receiving face area of 200-1,250 A/cm<SP>2</SP>to the metal oxide fine powder at a voltage of 3-20 V, and sintering for 3-30 min in a desired atmosphere under a pressure of 5-100 MPa and at a temperature of 600-1,000&deg;C. In this method, a momentary electromagnetic field generated by pulse energization effects is utilized, and the nano-structured metal oxide sintered compact having a preferred orientation can be manufactured by its electric field diffusion effect. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
