The invention relates to a method and device for placing an insulation on an elongate element (1), especially coils for electric motor windings, wherein the element (1) is wrapped with at least two overlapping bands (2,3) in the form of a spiral and which are located on rotatable supply rollers (4,5) which move around the element (1) about a common axis (8) of rotation. The element (1) an the supply rollers (4,5) rotating around the element (1) can move in relation to each other in the direction of the axis (8) of rotation. The bands (2,3) respectively wind onto the element (1) at an angle corresponding to the overlapping in an inclined position in relation to the axis (8) of rotation. In order to ensure mutual overlapping of the bands, even when elements (1) have complicated curved forms, the two adjacent bands (2,3) along the axis of rotation (8) wind onto the element (1) in an offset manner from both sides, such that they can be wound on in such a manner that they overlap with each other and are successively wound onto the element such that they lie on top of each other. The offset of the two bands (2,3) is less than the width of the bands (2,3). |
