PURPOSE: A device and a method for inputting a cooking time for a microwave oven are provided to realize the minute time setting at a low cost by using a potentiometer instead of a mechanical timer. CONSTITUTION: A device and a method for inputting a cooking time for a microwave oven includes a key input part(10), and a microcomputer(20). The key input part varies a resistance value according to the manipulation of a user, and output a changed voltage according to the varied resistance value. The microcomputer sets a cooking time corresponding to the changed voltage output from the key input part and controls the driving of a magnetron according to the set cooking time. The key input part has a potentiometer(11) of which a voltage is changed by the resistance value.
