<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording method which can control permeability of ink following increase of a printing speed, prevents back shift and oozing on a color boundary, is free from the back shift and excellent in filling of an image, and to provide the ink, an image forming material, an ink cartridge and a recorder. <P>SOLUTION: For the ink jet recording method, a liquid drop of water-based ink containing water, a colorant and a wetting agent is spat out from a recording head, and stuck to a recording medium to carry out printing. Recording is carried out by using the ink and the recording medium which have such a permeability that an absorbing time T when a transfer amount V-Vr(ml/m<SP>2</SP>) minus a roughness index Vr(ml/m<SP>2</SP>) from an ink transfer amount V by Bristol method to the recording medium using the ink, becomes 20 ml/m<SP>2</SP>becomes ≤ 10ms<SP>1/2</SP>(100ms). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
