摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase transition-type optical recording medium which has a large capacity such as available in DVD-ROM; a broad range of linear recording velocity from 3.5 to 35 m/s; a sufficient modulation degree secured even at a high linear velocity; a successful overwrite iteration characteristics; high recording sensitivity and reliability of shelf stability. <P>SOLUTION: This phase transition-type optical recording medium is formed of (1) a phase transition-type recording material which is an alloy including at least one element selected from the group of Ga, In, Sb, Sn, Re, Pd and W. (2) The composition formula of the alloy is given as Ga&alpha;In&beta;Sb&gamma;Sn&delta;X&epsi;(wherein X is at least one element selected from among Re, Pd and W; &alpha;, &beta;, &gamma;, &delta; and &epsi; are each the composition amount äatomic %}, i.e. &alpha;+&beta;+&gamma;+&delta;+&epsi;=100).
