PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that when a sheet fed substantially vertically in the upward direction is changed in direction by 90°while being guided by a carriage guide on a carrying passage having R-shaped cross-section and then carried in the horizontal direction, a carrying means having a small frictional coefficientμcannot change the direction of the sheet stably. SOLUTION: Since a counter roller 22 is rotary driven from a subscanning motor 61 through an intermediate gear 66 including a one-way clutch 65 fixed to the shaft 27a of a carry roller 27 and a drive gear 67 fixed to a shaft 22a, and a one-way clutch 67 idles due to speed difference between a carrying belt 21 and the counter roller 22, the carrying belt 21 and the counter roller 22 are rotated at a substantially same speed while being imparted with a driving force.
