<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door opening and closing handle device suitable for use in a door of a container having a simple structure to facilitate assembling and capable of displaying a lock condition. <P>SOLUTION: This door opening and closing handle device 1 is provided with a handle 4 whose one end side is stored so as to rise and fall from a recess 2 of a housing 3 using the other end side as a supporting point and is used by mounting the housing 3 on the turnable door in a fixed frame body. A locking means 15 for preventing the handle stored in the recess from rising is composed of a first locking part 13 capable of reciprocating in the direction of a straight line and a second locking part 14 in which it is locked. A handle 7 has a lever 7d for moving the first locking part 13 when it turns in the direction of rising to disengage it from the second locking part 14. A handle main body 6 is provided with an indicator 18.
