PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the trouble caused by a lever for supporting attachment and detachment of a cartridge. SOLUTION: In this ink jet recording apparatus wherein an ink cartridge 1, which is constituted by providing the lever 6 for supporting attachment and detachment on at least one wall surface of an ink container 2, is mounted on a cartridge holder 10 to supply ink to a recording head, the cartridge holder 10 has wall surfaces 14 and 15 extending to a position higher than the leading ends of levers 6 and 7 when the ink cartridge 1 is mounted in a state capable of supplying ink to the recording head.
