PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of corrosion on the medium-sliding surface of a magneto-resistance effect magnetic head making a sliding contact with a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: A rustproof film 50 containing a compound having a carboxyl group and an ester bond as a functional group is formed on the medium-sliding surface 20a of a GMR head 20 which detects a magnetic signal while making the sliding contact with a magnetic tape 3. Also, a top coating layer 64 consisting of the same material as the material of the rust preventive film 50 formed on the medium-sliding surface 20a of the GMR head 20 and a back coating layer 65 are formed on the surface of the magnetic tape 3 and the rust preventive film is transferred to the medium-sliding surface 20a of the GMR head 20 brought into the sliding contact with the magnetic tape 3.
