PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which is low on a glitch and missing of a magnetic layer by transfer of a support object in a manufacturing process, excellent in coated film smoothness, electromagnetic transducing characteristics, and durability in running. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has a smooth layer cured by coating radiation curing compounds on a non-magnetic support object and applying radiation, and an intermediate layer having dispersed non-magnetic fine powder and/or ferromagnetic fine powder by a binder including polyurethane on the smooth layer. The medium is obtained by coating further at least one layer of a magnetic layer having dispersed the ferromagnetic fine powder and the binder on the intermediate layer. This polyurethane is characteristically obtained by polymerization of polyether polyol of 10-50 wt.%, diol of 18-45 wt.% having a ring structure and 100-500 mol.wt. and an organic diisocyanate.
