PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to judge whether character recognition processing succeeds or not. SOLUTION: A character pattern string acquired by an information input part 11 is sent to a character recognition/data processing device 2 by an electronic data transmitting/receiving part 12 and characters are recognized by a character recognition part 22. A character code string whose characters are recognized is transmitted to a portable terminal 1 by a character data transmitting/receiving part 21 and displayed on an information display part 13 together with the character pattern string. When the user judges that the character pattern string displayed on the information display part 13 is the same as the character code string, the user inputs a control signal indicating how processing is to be applied to the character code string from the information input part 11. Then a data processing part 23 in the character recognition/information processing device 2 performs processing specified by the control signal for the character code string. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
