PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specification determining method of a light-reflecting functional material for obtaining a structure of an article surface and a specification of the functional material included on the article surface. SOLUTION: A structure and material physicality of the functional material are specified to calculate an light-reflecting property, a probability that the property from the article surface satisfies the desired target basic requirements is estimated, according to the calculated value, and the structure and the material physicality are re-input repeatedly and the property is calculated repeatedly until the probability is estimated. Next, the structure and the material physicality of a surface layer including the functional material are set, the light-reflecting property of the surface layer is calculated, the probability that the property satisfies the desired target basic requirements is determined similarly, and the structure and the material physicality are re-input repeatedly and the property is calculated repeatedly until the probability is determined. The light-reflecting basic requirements of the article surface with the surface layer is calculated, it is determined whether or not should return to the re-setting of the surface layer or the article surface in response to the achievement degree of the calculated value to the target basic requirements, and the re-setting and the property are calculated repeatedly.
