The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for synchronizing an original data sequence (IS) having a symbol rate and a corresponding processed output signal (OS), wherein a delay between a sampled signal of a characteristic parameter of the output signal, sampled at a sampling rate higher than said symbol rate, and a reference signal (MS) adapted to the sampled signal (SS) is estimated and used for controlling a delay between the original data sequence (IS) and said sampled signal (SS). Thereby, a tracking of changing delays can be achieved, which improves the performance of error compensation and/or pre-distortion. <IMAGE>
