The present invention provides a method for providing an unbiased signal-to-interference (SIR) estimation in a radio communication system. The method comprises the steps of receiving a transmitted signal, estimating the signal energy and an interference value of the received signal, calculating a first SIR estimate based on the estimated signal energy and the interference value, correcting the first estimated SIR-value for nonlinearity by means of a correction function and thereby obtaining a corrected SIR-value, while taking inter-path interference into account, repeatedly calculating the corrected SIR-value on the basis of received signal samples, whereby the same accuracy is achieved regardless of the number of paths occurring in the receiver. The invention further relates to a receiver, system and power control method. |
