The proposed device (1) for singling out items coming from a feeder, said feeder (AT) comprising an outlet channel (R) for conveying said items (T) towards a relevant end section (F), includes compacting means (RU), placed along said outlet channel (R), adapted for gathering said items (T) one behind the other according to a continuous row, at said end section (F). The above mentioned device is equipped with abutment and catching means (2) of single items (12) adapted for abutting and catching a series of single and successive leading items (11) of said row of items (T) at said end section (F), and with extracting and conveying means (3) for allowing said abutment and catching means (2) to pass according to a direction of extraction (E) at said end section (F) for abutting and catching a series of single and successive leading items (11) and for transferring and placing said series of singled out items (12) at a handling station (SA). <IMAGE>
