PURPOSE: A piston valve of a shock absorber is provided to improve driving experience and travel stability by increasing damping force optimally and mounting an oil passage and a sub valve in the outer bore of a piston rod for actively flowing oil in compression. CONSTITUTION: A piston valve(100) of a shock absorber is composed of a body(110) installed in a piston rod and composed of compression and extension orifices(112,113), and a disk assembly(116) installed in the upper and lower parts of the body to open and close the compression and extension orifices. An oil passage(130) is longitudinally installed in an outer bore of the piston rod and communicated with the compression orifice of the piston valve. A sub valve(120) is installed in the piston rod to pass oil from the upper part of the oil passage for generating damping force, and composed of a valve member(121) arranging plural orifices(122) on the concentric circle, an intake valve(123) closing the orifice in the upper part of the valve member, a retainer(124) applying elastic force, an intake spring(125) and a support plate(126).
