The method for the manufacture of axle stubs for an axle body consisting of two axle stubs and an axle tube fastened in between them entails mechanically shaping a blank into a formed body (3), clamping the formed body in the workpiece holder (5) of a cutting machine, and machining the formed body. The formed body is then separated to form two separate axle stubs, whereby the ensuing separated cross sections (10) serve for the later connection to the axle body. An Independent claim is included for an axle body, especially for the axle of a motor vehicle's trailer axle, manufactured by the proposed method.
