PURPOSE: A switching control device for a TDD repeater and a controlling method thereof are provided to generate a downlink switching control signal and an uplink switching control signal when a phase is synchronized in a phase locked loop(PLL), thereby performing an exact synchronous switching process for a downlink signal and an uplink signal. CONSTITUTION: A reference signal generator(150) outputs a detection signal that detects an envelope of a received downlink signal, compares a noise level of the detection signal with the detection signal, and generates a reference signal having a predetermined frequency. A PLL(130) generates a predetermined high frequency signal according to an applied voltage, and synchronizes phases of a low frequency signal produced by dividing the high frequency signal and the reference signal controlled in a switching controller(140). The switching controller(140) decodes a count value of a counter to generate an inner control signal, controls the low frequency signal and the reference signal, and generates a downlink switching control signal and an uplink switching control signal when the phases are synchronized in the PLL(130).
