Ballast used for a ballast bed of a track, especially a railway track, comprises stones of different grain size. The weight percent of stones having a grain diameter of more than 60 mm is less than 5%, preferably less than 1%, and the weight percent of stones having a grain diameter of less than 30 mm is greater than 20%, preferably greater than 30%. <??>Preferred Features: The rocks comprise basalt and/or granite and/or a similar stone. The ballast consists almost exclusively of stones having a grain size between 16 and 56 mm. |
