Automobile rain sensor including an electromagnetic wave (EW) sender (12), receiver (14) on a measured length and the windscreen which affects wave broadening between the sender and receiver is arranged so that deposit formation on it alters the starting signal detected by the sender and falls on extraneous light barriers (28,30), comprising a synthetic plastic, metal, or ceramic layer permeable towards EW only in the region of the measured length. An Independent claim is included for preparation of the extraneous light barriers, e.g. by injection molding.
