Security arrangement for steering device

The steering device has a 2-part steering column (9) which transmits the steering movement of a steering wheel (13) to the vehicle wheels, with movement of the steering wheel from its normal position into an upright safety position in the event of a crash, e.g. via a pneumatic cylinder (16). An airbag (19) is contained in an airbag module (18), incorporated in the steering device below the steering wheel and inflated for occupying the space between the raised steering wheel and the passenger compartment.
