Almost anhydrous pastes comprising an organic peroxide and a plasticizer which is used as such in the manufacture of synthetic resins is made by kneading a moist organic peroxide with a plasticizer to form a coherent mass and removing the water thus separated out. Benzoyl and p-chloro- and 2,4-dichlorobenzoyl peroxide and cyclohexanone hydroperoxide are specified. Preferably not more than 40 per cent by weight of the plasticizer calculated on the dry peroxide is first kneaded with the peroxide the separated water being removed and the remainder of the plasticizer kneaded in to form a paste. Most conveniently the initial quantity of plasticizer added is one third of that needed for a 50 per cent peroxide-plasticizer paste. Preferably kneading is performed at about 40 DEG C. Last traces of water may be removed by, after water removal, a final kneading under pressure and with gentle heating. Dibutyl phthalate and tricresyl and triphenyl phosphates are specified plasticizers. An example is provided in which benzoyl peroxide is kneaded with dibutyl phthalate.
